A Lost Love

A Lost Love

A Poem by Karis

I never thought someone could be perfect
Until I saw her face
With features so delicately present
It looked as if they had been traced

Her eyes the color of leaves
On a sunny spring day
Her lips the color of cherry’s
In a luscious kind of way

Her freckles perfectly placed
On her forehead, cheeks, and nose
Her cheeks perfectly tinted
Like a beautifully pink rose

Her curls fell past her chest
In an elegant sort of way
They were the color of autumn leaves
With the sun shining their way

Not many people knew her,
But I know the ones that did,
Loved her more than anything
She could be quite hard to forget.

Our eyes only met once,
But a glance was all it took
To know we would never be together
I knew after just one look

The keys didn’t turn
Our eyes didn’t lock
She merely skimmed over my face
It only lasted a second on a clock

But I cherished the moment forever
Even though she didn’t know my name
And I can’t help but thinking
That I’m the one to blame

And though she didn’t know me
I will never forget her name
And though she didn’t know me
I will always remember her face.
