The Lovers of God

The Lovers of God

A Poem by Carl Drake Barnard

The lovers of God

Deep within their souls

Two are formed alike

Riding to the depths

Saving one another

Caring for one another

As their souls combine

They formed one of God's greatest

The lovers of God.

These are ones formed by God's intent

Irresistible to their sweet reflect

Opened to the world with open arms

Embracing all children of god's intervention

A loving embrace they can't escape

Ensnared by emotions they've both declared

And as they resonate

Their souls collide.

Linking them together

As one forever

But not by love

But by lust

And soon their eyes

Start to tell the lies

Captivated by other lovers

They start to deflect.

With time their anger ignites

Soon there is nothing left but lies

As their hatred drive them apart

They start to indulge lust

And resentfully they divide

And there lusts resides

As they fall in love with

The lovers of God.

this makes me think of ones in love
and then they wrongly go after another
they have a affair and or are infatuated with another
then it turns into lust as lust isn't love it isn't pure love it is
going after someone you can't have.

And soon their eyes

Start to tell the lies

Captivated by other lovers

They start to deflect.

Reviews

Nicely done the form certainly helps to create atmosphere.
Souls colliding is a beautiful description of deep meaningful long lasting love. Anything other is temporary at best. Passionately written with conviction I can appreciate that. R xo

Thank you for reading!
I enjoyed this poem, Carl. It is true that when God unites two souls, the bond is deeper...they are tied with love. When the bond is nothing but lust, it cannot last. I am not sure I believe in true love...love that lasts a lifetime...but some do. Some find it. I hope you're one of the lucky few. Great poem, and I loved the visuals and font creativity, as well.

This is full of energy and passion, especially with the twist from love to lust which I wasn't expecting in the beginning lines. Excellent write!

Thank you for reading :)
The way this transforms and goes back again...in the write...
I see the beginning the testimony seems to be love ---
only to fall apart for some reason(s) and finds itself again...
may be not with the same person(s) -- but a different partner...
in doing so finds love in its truer form...
with that person...just how life is at times...

Well penned, I liked the cyclical aspect of this - falling in love, and out of love to fall in love again. Nicely done.
