Your writing has a nice balance between making lyrical observations & weaving those into your more blunt commentary overall. I agree that there's an automatic dismissal of oldness. As far as gray goes, I colored my gray since my mid-50's, but am just now letting it grow out naturally (I have long hair). I love the silver-gray in my hair, but I can also see that being gray makes me look nondescript & forgettable! But the beauty is when we get to the point where we don't care -- it's other people's loss. Your poem stimulates many ideas, a back-and-forth in the reader's mind (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Beauty fades with popularity as one ages, I find. Even I search my reflection for that younger more attractive me and wonder what happened along lifes highway. Had to rearead and say my bit!

and they just don't understand our worth...our wealth of experience from so many years of life on this earth...how much insight they could learn, if only they noticed us.

You are right Carola. In the USA, the same. Slowly forget the old people. Taking more and more from them. I liked the Native American view on old people. They are the mentors and teachers of the children. You are right. Us older folks need to be showing people. We are still kicking. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry.

Ouch. It reads very good, but the message hurts. (Please for give my odd humour) I'd not thought about it much, but think you must be right. If you're like me, there's a rather young person inside who isn't entirely aware of the image in the mirror or the creaky joints.

Great factual read! The most up to date model seems always more appealing but what about age and wine? The older the vintage the finer the taste eh!
