Never Forgotten

Never Forgotten

A Poem by Cassandra
"

A loss of a beloved pet

"
Life bestowed you upon me, a cherished gift,
So full of love and bursting with hope,
Filling the hole of the gaping rift,
Before your spirit-filled gallops changed into a lifeless lope.

For life has deceived me, concealing cruel debt,
The happy spark, that once lit up your eyes so bright,
The one that made you more than a mere pet,
Forsaken, for dim idleness as your dear life is stretched too tight.

I didn't realize that you could be given just as fast,
As you can be callously taken away in a flash, Without a fleeting thought cast,
Losing you made my insides turn to ash.

Ripped by the hands of fate,
Too quick and awful to even digest
By the time I found you it was just too late,
As in the end, being cursed is the price for being blessed.
