Pray for peace

Pray for peace

A Poem by Coyote Poetry
"

I'm tire of violence and war.

"

“Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one”
 John Lennon, Imagine
      Pray for Peace

“Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.”
 Martin Luther King Jr.

“An eye for an eye will only make the whole world blind.”
 Mahatma Gandhi
“Let the first act of every morning be to make the following resolve for the day:

- I shall not fear anyone on Earth.
- I shall fear only God.
- I shall not bear ill will toward anyone.
- I shall not submit to injustice from anyone.
- I shall conquer untruth by truth. And in resisting untruth, I shall put up with all suffering.”
 Mahatma Gandhi

“Peace cannot be kept by force; it can only be achieved by understanding.”
 Albert Einstein

Dad, how do soldiers killing each other solve the world's problems?”

Bill Watterson, Calvin and Hobbes: Sunday Pages 1985-1995

I once walked on soft grass with great men. Old battlefields in Europe. 20,000 men graves.
Once proud Soldiers. They were fighting the last war.  How did we honor them?
Soldiers don't want their children to fight and die like them. They want their children to know a peaceful world.
Please pray for peace. Don't raise your fist. Open you arms and embrace love and kindness.
War is fair. Kill without thoughts or concern. Peace is hard. We must forgive and stop the killing.
Please pray for peace. Make the leaders know. Every life is worthwhile.

You are very wise, Coyote... to pray for peace and energize these thoughts. I have learned that our thoughts do indeed affect our future... so keep up the Good Work, my friend... and never think that prayers are foolish.

Wars are the opposite of peace... to create real peace in the world, we need to start with peace within ourselves. May we all find the peace we long for within... and may it spread to the far reaches in the world.

Blessings...

World peace is easier said than done. Everyday I read of new atrocities related to domestic violence among family members, and these incidents are increasing. How do we have world peace if we haven't yet solved the problem of family peace? The fact of the matter is that we don’t trust each other, and the anxiety and fear that this distrust triggers inside of us makes us want to kill them before they kill us. Preemption is a major cause of violence. Another problem is that one in every ten human beings on this planet has some form of mental illness (drug caused of otherwise) during their lifetimes that may predispose them to violence.

John,
This collection of quotes, the lovely voice of Reba and your words sharing with us your personal experience are all so touching - gut wrenching in fact!! Why can't we achieve it? We know war is wrong, we know we shall not always be the one to hold power, or that we always need it. We know we are all the same in the eyes of our Almighty God but yet we don't accept it. Evil rules far too often in the form of greed, and that which we covet which belongs to another. Why, why? I have not the answers, but I do pray for peace!!

Me too. Thank you Sheila. I hope the world leaders learn. No-one win in war.
