Let it be me

Let it be me

A Poem by Coyote Poetry
"

For Joey.

"
                          Let it be me

You are my old song, my new song. You are my place to rest sweet love.
I want to see your beautiful face everyday of my life.
I want to hold your body near and to hear you whisper.
I love you Johnnie.

I don't remember any bad days with you.
You made my hellish life seem sweet and okay.
I have lived and died in your smile and kind words.

You are my California dreaming.
My mountain top wishes.
My reasons to go forward, knowing.
I shall return to you.

I found you a long time ago and I asked you. Let it be me to keep you safe.
I didn't know. You would save me and you would give me reason to be alive.

I love you my dear love.

I agree with Raven on this one-
the "let it be me"
sets the tone for this piece- without it it would have a whole different feel

you describe the saving and delight of this person-
but there is this gentle plea- "let it be me"

asking for the return

Thank you for reading and the kind words. I do appreciate.
A wonderful piece on love and how it ought to be. It is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all. Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful song and a beautiful poem, Johnnie. Thank you for sharing your heart's feelings. Love is a theme that never seems to run out of words, at least from great writers like you.

What a sad story... Though, their love seemed very real so they both captured a happiness for a moment that some of us never find in our entire lives. This piece is too the point, a strong word of love, a powerful string of words on love. Man to his lover, 'let it be me', 'let it be me' who you love. Thanks for sharing, Coyote.

Just words huh? Brilliant words though.

A confession of love, simple and unashamed in its intentions.
Very relevant to me, this very day, Coyote.
We all have asked our love to "let it be me to keep you safe". Sometimes as men, that is all we really want to do.
Another heartfelt piece of writing.
Nicely done.
