Three short poems.

Three short poems.

A Poem by Coyote Poetry
"

Attempt at less epic poetry.

                                Remember you, remember me.
The lights are low and the night is young.
Your perfect blue eyes welcomed my attention.
I kissed your tender ivory skin and I tasted the salt upon soft neck and shoulder.
You smiled a smile of modesty as you wrapped your arms around me in the ambrosia of love.

-----

                                  Longing

I recited poetry of love for you to strangers.
I told them how you wore  colored skirts upon warm sand and allowed the veil of the sea
to submerge me, to fall into your turbulence of your beautiful face.
I recited words of visions of a delicate woman who loved the sea.
I told the strangers of a beautiful muse who danced with the waves and she sang to the sun.

---------

                             Rapture

Pretty Katy whispered to me. We must die a thousand deaths before knowing the value of a new day.
She undressed for me, singing song of peace and love removing her clothing slowly.
Her concealed skin recedes to perfect valleys and rolling hills,
making me discard the past and I wanted us to become hopeless lovers wanting the perfect endings.

I say this all the time because it's true: I love grand thoughts wrapped in tiny poetry. I think short poems, when done well, are my favorite flavor of poetry because it forces/allows the author to boil down their thoughts and words to discover what exactly they need to share. The longing and the reverence ring true in all three of these. Well done!

It is hard. I'm a prose-type poem person, but I know. Need short poetry to attract some reader.

Hello John, you, always the romantic and just as loving and poetic in short form as you are in artistic symphony :) All 3 are beautiful, truly, but "Longing" is such an exquisite display of your romantic heart song.

Thank you Lynn for reading and the comment. I do appreciate.
Hi, John!
Just dropping-in to enjoy a couple of your pieces and ran across this excellently-penned verse of originality.
Sometimes, one's mind, heart, and soul dance more lively to the tune of brevity than symphonic breadth, and these three beauts standout as vivid proof.
I thought the first would surely be my favorite, with its wondrous sense of romantic tenderness and beauty; then, I ventured forth through the ache of imagery that I can't seem to shake in "Longing" … finally, on down through "Rapture", where the alluring moment you painted into my imagination made me want to forget all else, too. Goodness-ME!
John, look with me at V2L2, did you mean "skirts", and L2, should it be "the turbulence" or something I can't see? I'm not always the brightest Crayon in the box … LOL!

I can certainly tell (by your skilled pen) this is not your first poetic rodeo, and i love this piece … thanks for sharing and showing us a bit of your, obviously, vivid imagination here, My Friend! ⁓ Richard

Your poems often read like poetic romantic outbursts. It's nice if one needs a little sensuality mixed with romance and love and longing. Your images are always vivid that's why I like them. Nice short pieces.

Thank you for reading and the comment. I do appreciate.
The words are assembled beautifully. It's like eating crème brûlée, chocolate mousse and fruit salad all at once. You know all of them are dessert but you cannot imagine how it would taste like if all these three are mixed together in one platter; unless, if you transcend limitations and actually doing it will you see how delicious the outcome is....
...and you did it! Once again, you did it Sir. The harmony of the ingredients...the aroma of the words...Hmm! The end justifies the means.

Damn fine work.

However, regarding the 2nd poem's 2nd line's 6th word, "worn" - it should probably be "wore".

A very original format, Coyote.

One is always tempted to try something different here on Cafe, and your idea to write three adjoining poems, similar in theme works quite well.
Tales of love and beautiful women, the muses of a life well lived.
Lovingly written as always, with a simple elegance and without any hints of pretentiousness.
Great writing, as always.
