A Lake St. Clair prayer

A Lake St. Clair prayer

A Poem by Coyote Poetry
"

I spend the day alone by Lake St. Clair. Wrote many new poems.

"
                            A Lake St. Clair prayer

I'm far from my first love. The Pacific ocean.
The Pacific ocean stole my heart years ago and
she made me yearn to be near her and wish to dance again with the free and wild waves.

Today I live in Michigan. The great lakes are near me and are very beautiful. Today I sit by Lake St. Clair.
My eyes and mind bathing in the beauty of her vastness and movement. I watch the boats go by to the open lake. The people are content with the warm day and quiet lake.

I taught my grandchildren to love the water. I love to watch them dance and swim with the gentle waves. Today I'm alone. I wanted to ponder life and create a prayer.  For Orlando, Paris and  Brussels.  Many people want revenge. Who do you kill?  What revenge is enough? Maybe we need to pay attention to the people near us. I whispered a quiet prayer.

-----
Thank you spirit of life and death for the new day.
Thank you for the fresh air and the bright sun upon my face.
Thank you for the sea, the lakes and the flowing river.
Please spirit of life and death.
We need the energy of hope and peace.
My world want blood. Blood demands payment till no-one is left.
Please teach my world.
Every life had value.
This is one earth and we are one people. We must get along for the sake of the children.
Today so much sadness and confusion.
Please send the hateful souls and hearts caress of humanity and forgiveness.
Teach them to find places where hate and rage can be healed.
Please help the people swimming in sadness.
No-one understand the useless killings.
Please spirit of life and death.
Old world is falling apart.
We need to find the path to concern, kindness and love.
___

Lake St. Clair is beautiful. I sat and ponder many things. I wonder what kind of world did I leave for my children and my grandchildren?

"A eye for a eyes world will leave everyone dead" (Old quote from somewhere)

The Native Americans believe. "When the bear and wolf is gone. Man will follow."

We must stop the hurricane of hate and insanity. For the sake of all children in our world. Every child lost to war and hate. Was a light of life. This light could of saved us all.

I love your story of the ocean, and your beautiful prayer. It is what we need right now- many prayers like this going upward until they meet - whatever words they are, as long as they are prayers for our healing and peace. Your prayer honors a heritage that had/has to deal with much hate and destruction- the prayer comes through as many voices speaking from many generations. Like you are a conduit of many voices still sitting around a circle, praying for survival. As wolf is one of the animals who has visited me many times in dreams and visions, I feel very close to the wolf, and grieve whenever I hear of harm that comes to them. I believe what Natuve Americans believe- I believe the same about our kin in the sea, the Dolphins and whales. These creatures all bring beauty, life and intelligence to us, and we do not recognize them. When all of them are gone, yes, it may be our time to follow. Beautiful words in a true voice.

Thank you Marianne Rose. All of us need to pray for peace. Our world is in a bad place today.

Very dark yet so thru most of your work I have read is full of light and joy of nostalgia this is to yet the under note of sadness and truth to the pray bring the love of the ocean into a darker perspective

True my dear
This prayer filled me with hope and peace. You don't negate the tragedy - you pray for the pain to be eased and for the world to heal, for the sake of future generations. You recognize that there is something wrong, and we must work together to fix it. Beautifully written. Thank you for sharing. (I've been away from writerscafe for a while - remember me? :) you inspire me, Coyote. Bless you.)

Thank you. I remember you. I hope you are doing well.
This is one of your very best! I love this! You show us the whole scenario, how the prayer came to be, what your surroundings are & your experiences have been. Then it becomes so much more powerful when you start into your poem, which is spoken with true love & tolerance & understanding, even of murderers, recognizing that violence is not the answer to this problem of violence. There's so much value in your words, I relate to every one. It must be especially poignant for those with children, g-kids, & gg-kids, since this is the broken world we're handing to them. I'm always glad I never had kids, becuz I'm having a hard time being hopeful about our world situation (((HUGS)))

A poignant and very powerful write, Coyote. There is much peace found next to a body of water. I am fortunate to look out my window and see a small expanse of that Pacific your miss. Lucky me:)

You are lucky and thank you dear Pryde for reading and the comment.
yes, every life is important, every love is important...

this is so beautiful, coyote...

and yes, we must stop the hurricane of hate and insanity for peaceful waters.

while reading the early part of this i was so much reminded of the Looking Glass song "Brandy"--

"Brandy, you're a fine girl, what a good wife you would be, but my life, my love and my lady is the sea"---j.
