                                 One people

Who remembered the people who once lived in the dead cities? Bombs, war and soldiers torn apart once great cities. Where did the people go? Who is responsible

War would end if the dead could return. ~Stanley Baldwin?

I'm fed up to the ears with old men dreaming up wars for young men to die in. ~George McGovern

Liberty and democracy become unholy when their hands are dyed red with innocent blood. ~Gandhi, Non-violence in Peace and War, 1948

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below. //
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
            In Flanders fields...
~John McCrae (1872"1918), "In Flanders Fields," in Punch (London), 1915 December 8th

“Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.”
Martin Luther King Jr., A Testament of Hope: The Essential Writings and Speeches

“An eye for an eye will only make the whole world blind.”
Mahatma Gandhi

“Peace cannot be kept by force; it can only be achieved by understanding.”
Albert Einstein

I went to Lake St. Clair yesterday. I burned sage for sick friends and my world. I pray we learn. This is one earth and one people. Every life had value. War is mans sin. When men can accept war as norm. What have we become?

A mother at my work said war is needed. Her son is a active duty soldier. I asked her. You want your son to go fight someone 7000 miles away? She held silence and she told me. I don't want to discuss  this. I told her. When war is alive. War will come to our doorway. Pray for peace. Pray for wisdom for our leaders. Pray for the millions homeless and in danger. Need a billion people to stand as one. For the sweet word of peace to be known.

This is an amazing collection of excellent quotations. The last thing of yours I read had great quotes, too, but I forget to mention them . . .

I am feeling so much like what you are saying here, with the way this new president (not my president) inflames the world with his harsh & unbalanced & accusatory rhetoric. It kills me that the budget proposal says 10% more for military, but 30% less for diplomacy!!!! I so agree with your message & it's very compelling when you describe an actual recent encounter you had with a coworker military mom -- it's good to know you are out there, trying to make a difference & also it's good to know about what the other people think, the ones who feel war is necessary.

I agree that Humanity is One people ... Sadly, it always turns out that we are One people that just can't get along, and there is too much profit and power to be gained by war for the warmongers who have no problem shedding our blood ...

Sadly you are right my friend. I pray we change ASAP. Before we find the place of no return.
War is an awful and soul stealing magnet that humans seem to drink it like wines. Don't even know if that even makes any sense, but just makes made each time I think of human loss.

But, have faith, hope and love in your hearts that your pains are felt by many across the continent.

Indeed a Baldwin quote. He also said "I would rather trust a woman's instinct than a man's reason."
You have collected many relevant quotes and make the case well, exposing the futility of war. War decided upon by the few powerful and rich people who want to stay rich and keep their wealth above all else. Well Spoken Coyote John!
