My Paloma

My Paloma

A Poem by Coyote Poetry
"

Just words.

"
                            My Paloma

You and I.
We knew the sacred fire of love once.

You and I.
We were like careless children whispering promises of the love words, we couldn't keep.f

You and I.
We held mistress love closely and afar in the same seconds.

You and I.
We cradle love tightly, knowing our love wasn't for the taking.

You and I.
Dear Paloma, we knew the taste of sweet love and the wealth of deep kiss and long embrace.

You and I knew.
We had accepted treason too, we loved words and song over the delight and the charm of love.

You and I learned.
Love never died, just simmered till the heart find the profound place and need to return to.

You were my sacred fire and everlasting place of great need to return to.

Dear Paloma.
Without you. I'm truly alone.

You are my Beatrice and I have became a story in your words.

Beatrice and Dante- great reference for Paloma and Johnnie's love story. Effective repetition of "You and I" as the all-encompassing central focus of this story. Lyrical and musical with new couplet style. So passionate and tender and sad... Bravo Coyote.

I very much admire your overall writing becuz of the way you present things differently in many different & creative ways. This is a new style of yours I haven't read yet. I like the way your repeating line is developed with a few added words in the later usage. My dog is named Paloma & there are doves here where I live, plus that's the name of my little dirt road that I live on. I'm really drawn to this *smile*
