The gin and juice lullaby

The gin and juice lullaby

A Poem by Coyote Poetry

Just words

                             The gin and juice lullaby

Once we stripped bare naked and we showed real face and real skin.
You were fire and I was water.
My greed was to steal everything I could.

We languished in cheap motel till the noon hours and I saw in your eyes.
You knew, I was just a thief.
My guns was loaded with lies and tales.
You were perfect beauty and I was chaos and torrent thoughts.

I remember your last words to me.
"You showed me your 45 pistol and you held the gun to your heart.
You whispered. Damn fake Michigan cowboys carry gun and lies, like a honor.
Us Texas girl, we carry and when we pissed-off.
Bang, bang. You shall die.
You told me you loved me and you need me.
I know who you are.
Just a gin and juice lullaby.
I have found you  in the Belton, Texas tavern, five times.
You stirred my wish to love,
you taught me great lessons.
Us men and women who love the gin and the juice.
Love is wishful dance,
we love to crash and burn in the game of love.
Just remember.
Love can make us want to live, make us want to kill.
Us Texas girls.
Are hurricanes when we are pissed-off.
Please be kind."

Army stole me away from my Texas hurricane.
I remember her beautiful face and
I remember she could shoot a can off the fence at 50 yards.
She was so sweet and she had a tragic heart.
She is my gin and juice Texas lullaby.

Hey Johnnie.. these are not just words... these are far more than that.. these words are poetry and true.. just one thing, who is gonna argue with any woman that can take a can out from 50 yards and especially with a belly full of gin..... sounds like my kind of gall...Cheers... Neville

Thank you Ayesha. I appreciate the comment.
That's poignant. There's so much more to it than it actually seems. That boundless joy of running into each other, that painful sadness of being pulled apart, never to see the one again...could read all of that between the synapses. I bet this is one of your most endeared memories. Beautiful work!

This is one very special poem, how the words lit up the deepness in it. The words are the picture you painted.

I reckon there are few men who've had such a range of ladies come their way!!! . Plus, as time passes they all still have a special place in your heart and memory - whether embellished or not. You write with such an understanding nature too , never judging, just able to see the good within - I mean any woman who can drink a pot of gin and still have steady enough hands to hit the target .. has my vote.

Much needed smile from the following - Texas girls. are hurricanes when we are pissed-off.
Please be kind."
