                                     Deserve

Father told me often, we get what we deserve. I played the b*****d well and the darkness overtook my life. He turned to me and he whispered. Something we can't be forgiven for.

Exquisite lady in the dark tavern asked. Are you waiting for sin, more gin or me. I smiled and I asked her. Have you danced with the devil? Have you played the devil? Are you willing to steal and borrow for love?

She laughed at my words and she told me. Few of show real face, the white words, the black words, just words said in the darkness of the night. Sometime we take what we need. Sweet or not, we must follow our destiny. It is midnight in Austin, Texas. The hot June night brought me here to hear your poetry. I know you Johnnie, read poetry at seven  pm at the bookstore and you drink the three dollars Long Ice Teas till 12 midnight at the last chance saloon. Dear Poet, please whisper me a poem. Sometime dirty and so damn sweet.

                         " Lacy

Sugar and spice,
everything nice.
You are.

When I look into those hazel eyes,
feel you skin again my skin on the dancefloor,
the grey sky turn bluer than blue.

You are my Summer wine,
my Winters blues,
my Spring time wish.

Lacy love,
Lacy, so damn beautiful and sweet.
If I got lost in the embrace of those long legs,
those loving arms.
Kissed the lips of red.

You would beckon me to believe love is true,
but we know. We get what we deserve.

You and I.
Just thieves and liars,
wanting just enough to make our bones feel alive."

She smiled and she brought me closer.  She whispered, baby, love and dear. We can't give away what we don't have no-more. We are the leftover wine, just passing through and trying to find one reason to keep moving. Today we shall dance. Grandest sin in Texas, not Texas two-stepping on a Friday night.

Hot Summer, Texas dance floor. Two people dancing to Tim McGraw "Don't take the girl". Two souls grasping at the light of love.

Nice work. When the last bell rings in a bar, or in life, you can go home with the one that's left. The decision would be between the paths of cynicism or surrender. Should you choose to recognize this is someone you are stuck with, or allow yourself to fall?

we dance until our muscles don't work anymore. Until we collapse, and the vultures pick our lively bones clean, amidst a desert of meaning.

You are right and thank you for reading.
Loved the usage of hazel eyes as it has always been my favorite color. I also liked the line-Have you danced with the devil? Have you played the devil ?
Wonderfully crafted dear friend. Both a fun and interesting piece to read :)

.......... :) tis always a pleasure Johnnie C
Now I want a list of all those women you have danced with Coyote John! Another piece mixed with romance and sadness and hopless dark times drinking into the night until so drunk any port will do.
