Too old to die young

Too old to die young

A Poem by Coyote Poetry
"

Just words

"
Almost 61 years old,
lived in many places and had many lives.
Old man looking back at me in the mirror.
I whispered.
Too old to die young.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Once I knew the energy of youth,
once I told death,
not today.
Today I see my father's face, my father's eyes.
I learn the hard lessons, like him.
Now I know his lessons and I pray,
he had found some peace and salvation.
My old eyes are tire and I write some words,
old dad, I am too old to die young.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Maybe we suppose to see with different eyes after traveling forever,
our world, chaos and craziness.
Grandfather told the grandchildren.
Slow down, listen and have some fun.
You will become old one day and you will wish,
you loved more, you danced more and you laughed more.
Yesterday man whispered, I am too old to die young.

"too old to die young" but we hope for some kind of rebirth along the way...so we can match Dylan.."i was so much older then, i'm younger than that now"--
If we slow ourselves down and savor each moment....we will be ready when the time comes.

In line three..the second "at me" could be deleted, just repetitious.
but as usual...so much feeling in your writes and so easy for this almost 70 year old relic to relate to.

Almost too good to be consigned to a single poem.. these words are more than just words, they are sage words to be passed down from father to son, listened to, lived and enjoyed.... then the cycle repeats itself, on and on.... Neville

One day we wake up and we're just there. Lovely thought and expression here.
One minor suggestion that "are tired" or "tire" 2,d last line of second stanza

Thank you my friend for reading. Can't stop aging, but we need to have some fun.
The years take their toll on everyone. No one is pared. We become our grandfathers and fathers. The learning and living goes on. Its beautiful to be alive. To be able to feel, think sing and dance. You took me through those feelings and emotions that one day I too must feel. Thank you dear Coyote...
