Peace

Peace

A Poem by Coyote Poetry
"

Written in 1980. Hope for peace had chance then. What happen to the dream?

"

                                   Peace

(A old poem written when age was my advantage.)
I went to the forest.
I prayed to the sun, the old willow trees.
I sat in the mist of the wild flowers.
I asked the Great Spirit to listen.

I dreamed an old dream.

Peace, will come one day.

One day in my life,
I will awake and all children will be safe from violence and hate.

A world of no hate, no violence and all women and children will have
shelter and food.

A utopia of love and peace.
Where education and well being is the concern of a parent.
Not if their son or daughter will fight and died in wars?

Peace I want to see.
Deep in my mind and heart.
I pray for a world where all people have opportunity and hope.

One day where men and women can give thanks for a new day.
Where religion is to prosper the soul and spirit.
Not teach death and murder.

Someday I will wake up in a peaceful place.
One day I hope and pray.

Man anger and hate can fade away to myth and old story.

I pray today for my children and all children.
Men lose their madness to kill all that is beautiful.

Time is very short. Our children will pay for our hate and mistakes.

At least in my generation, the world will become better.
Religion will be used to heal people and not preach killing in letter.

People will value character and not worship looks
Beauty will be seen as a thing to be at heart and not what make-up undertook

Schools will teach poetry, schools will teach hope
History will not be repeated, Stories will change
We all had an altar, which we still can blaze

All I see around me is now, children pressurised to achieve
Girls and boys crying in front of the mirrors
with 'In am not perfect' thought, always on the weave
Digging nails into their skin

Roads in London, Mumbai: with people crying alone
Lot of pain hidden, being judged all along

I wish I could wake up too
At least, one day before I die
When everyone is happy
and I need not write any more cry

Same thoughts as you, my friend
Time has been changing
love is waning
People.

We write and write
words have power
if words in the book can preach
These words of yours teach
Morals, love & hope

I hope the elders were right
Each word has a spirit
let the kindness abide
and make the world alright

Funny......or not....
I began writing in the 60's with much of the same theme, Coyote...
Peace, love, and happiness....remember
wars, hunger, hatred, killings (here and abroad), corrupt politicians, lost love(s)......
Not much has changed, Coyote..that is for sure
but I beg to differ...I didn't know your father, but by y(our) writing and commitment alone.....you have most definitely done something...
Be proud of that..
Allen
BTW ... a wonderful, heartfelt write...filled with emotion and pain....

This is also very nice.
Sometimes, I read my old things and ask myself, where did this part of me go?
thank you for this piece :)

I love this. Just, imagining what it would be like without hate, and everything. It's fantastic. I could picture you, and see what is going on. You make it feel.. realistic, and that is what amazes me. Good work, and keep writing.

The ending to this is particularly poignant. This is a grand dream, and an honourable one. But sadly, human nature is too corruptive to allow peace. (My mother always said that as long as there is more than person on the planet, there would always be war). However, that's not to say we should all stop trying to make our own lives a little better, and hopefully that could extend to others? It's not an easy one to figure out. I don't think just one person can change everything at once.

like in the saying "somethings never change". indeed true, our children will suffer the consequences of our own doing. and i think the great spirit is watching us, guiding us in every way possible he/she can, but were too many to put a stop the to hate and greed that human feels that war is just door step away in the present time. well written my friend.

I think the poem is well written and spoke i just think that peace is not part of reality i am a firm believer that people in this world do suffer because of other peoples decisions. But on they other hand i am also am a firm believer that is it not religion that will save this world ,people are the ones who live and suffer for the things that happen on this planet so it will be people coming together as one republic to make the perfect world.
