The Breath of an Angel

The Breath of an Angel

A Poem by Carolann Dowsett
"

I wrote this one a while back after my mum died, I thought I would share it here.

"
You left
without saying goodbye
Life Stolen
in the blink of an eye

So many words
left unspoken
shattered dreams
my spirit broken

Did leaving this world
set your soul free
Will you always be here
watching over me
A presence felt
a glimmer
a sigh
protecting me
until I die

Or did you move on
through time and space
On the breath of an angel
to God’s loving embrace

Wow! This poem is so touching and well written. It reveals the sorrow, the longing and ever other possible emotion that a human feels on the death of a loved one. This poem reminds me so very much about the death of my grandmother, who too, died without saying goodbye; she died in coma. It is great that you could make the reader recollect his/her past experiences and yet show them around the new and fascinating realm of your creation. Very well done! Keep writing!

Thank you so much.
Very touching and beautifully written. To wish, only what is good for those we lose, is our duty. To know, that they feel the same of us, is a gift.

Very ncie.

This piece reminds me of my uncle who died when he was 24 and about to be engaged.

Your loss is palpable in this piece. I am glad you shared this piece with us; I know that talking about the loss of a loved one can be difficult. I hope she is in the embrace of God right in the middle of a chorus of angels.

You own every tear right now. I was just talking about this with someone, it's raw and affecting. So sad. :(
