The Beast Behind The Beauty

The Beast Behind The Beauty

A Poem by Charlize

I am but a human to your god like perfection
For you to steal my heart I know was not your intention
But looking deep into the cracks of the mask that hid your truth
I’m starting to think that I may have fallen too soon

Before you showed your colors, before I was bemused
You were all I though about, you were my muse
But the fog that hid your mysterious soul has finally lifted
And now that I can clearly see, my heart feels conflicted

Does it make me a shallow person? To love you, I mean.
Or was your beauty just too blinding that I would not have even seen
The ugliness, the darkness, the despicable soul inside
With the facade so perfect, it seemed like there was nothing to hide

I knew what my heart wanted but I didn’t realize until the end
That you would be my undoing, the one to push me off the edge
I am now falling to my death and I know you won’t be there to catch me
Because your soul is not as beautiful as I once thought it would be
