Sea of Obsession

Sea of Obsession

A Poem by Neva Flores Smith - Changefulstorm
"

When did you become a stormy sea of obsession? Confining in all of your ways.............

"

When did you become a stormy sea of obsession?

Confining in all of your ways
Renouncing all moves in any direction
When one does not yield to the calls, you play

Attempts to govern unclipped wings can be exhausting
The very thought is gravely insane
Yet, you still despondently try to cage in free spirits
With those borders you set and maintain

You reveal uncertainty in your own validation
In the faith you hold in your own
When you desperately try to close off the sky
From free spirits thirsting to roam

Did you know your borders are guarded by insecurity?
They are useless and protected in vain
Take a look inside the cages you obsessively provide
Not a single free spirit remains

Neva Flores Smith - Changefulstorm
There are those who try to control the ones they claim to love, to limit their contact with family and friends. Insecurity is generally their reason and they often find their bird cannot be caged.

aaah, i came across such people, dear ones, unfortunately, sometimes caged birds, when they gain liberty again, after suffocation, they prefer to alienates themselves to their loved ones, as said in this poem!

a lovely poem, you passed on a sensible message Neva!

Your words are true in this poem. Lock a free spirit up. They will escape one day and not come back. Thank you for the excellent poem.

So true Neva, insecurity is not great. Those issues need to be resolved before entering the next chapter with someone.

Wow, you hit the head on the nail for me. Today has been one of the worst days in my life. I am missing my mom who had just passed away recently, and then the people I am staying with their son was really cruel to me this morning. And I have been crying all day today. Then I decided not to talk at all to anyone through speech. And then I read this and it made me so happy. Thank you for writing this poem for someone like me to have read it. :)

This is your personally eloquent delivery of that recurrent message oft repeated, as in Sting's song "If You Love Somebody, Set Them Free" and other sources.

Bottom line: Intelligent Spirit in humans comes clean, lets all be as it really is. Ego unchecked doesn't. A very basic lesson too few deign to learn.

Like the direction of this one Neva, a slightly different spin on a crossed lover... I like it

I love this poem and it speaks the truth. "I now know why the caged bird sings." The message is very clear and the poem tugs at the heart. :3
