Snow and the Salty Sea

Snow and the Salty Sea

A Poem by Fabian G. Franklin
"

...

"

Snowflakes fall by millions to the sea

Salt will melt, in part, every heart that's free

There is the salt of experience

That memories often savor

Yet no grain is without pain

Thus, teardrops have their flavor

Some are fashioned in clouds

A frozen art of symmetry

Dazzling in the shifting sun

Blinding eyes to what could be

A salty heart has visions and dreams

Washing away in silent tears to streams

Streams flow into rivers and rivers to the sea

Every heartbeat swells in tides, of immortality

Waves beget foam drawn by a yellow moon

What we feel becomes too real

It all begins; and ends, too soon

We reach for heaven in

Frozen corners of oblivion

And like snowflakes we become

An art as white as salt and some

Pretend, eternal, they shall be

Yet snowflakes fall by millions to the sea

mortality is our cloak ..we all must wear it eh!? i like the snow melting in salt and see ..its a mystical and pleasant image for me .. in this "Yet no grain ..." i think you mean gain ;)
"Waves beget tides...." tho the connection is intimate i think i would say tides beget waves instead ;) your closing is almost romantic to me .. tho i fall and melt into that vast sea .. and i like the bookends repeat of it ..i feel closure ...which death requires ah!? lots for me to take with me this morning...in the way of gratitude ..each moment so precious

What have we if not hope? Hope preserves as does hope to the human heart.
"Every heart swells in waves of immortality."
This poem is a lovely theme on the similarities seen between our lives; growth, seasons, and experiences.
