Slumbering Princess

Slumbering Princess

A Poem by Cherrie Palmer
"

a bedtime game I play with Peyton

"

Slumbering princess with sleepy eyes come dance across the starry skies. Skip a stone into the milky-way and picnic on the moon’s eastern most bay. A kite will we fly, sailing through the night as nearby stars shine so bright. A basket of treats will fill us with smiles, holding treasures so rare for you and for I. While mortals below count sheep overhead we will fish the big dipper catching star-dust for our hair. With Jupiter in place we’ll begin our long journey home and wake with a smile from travels untold. Each night there after we’ll add one more thing till the day you are too old to make believe with me.

You know, there might, I say there just might be a lullaby somewhere in there. Sorry. Couldn't resist the Foghorn Leghorn moment. Sweet words, Cherrie.

This poem filled me with respect for the wisdom of innocence and its fuel for the imagination. Just Beautiful.

Peyton and I played this game till she turned 10. Racing to the 🌙 for a bedtime adventure.

That is so sweet and may I say a good tactic also.
I've been working on a Garland. Kind of inspired by you and your celestial musings. Thought I would see what you've been up to and read this. Starting to think you go around with a halo of celestial bodies orbiting your head. As I read I was trying to figure out the structure of it and thought it was interesting that the structure was in there but you just let it flow around that. And each time I read it it became clearer. I'm curious about the game? Did she give you an idea then you have to wax poetic about it?

I love reading anything about the sky and its companions. Something about the stars, moon, planets, and the milk way just draws me in. I like the idea of living among the stars and I really enjoyed this poem!
