Doomed

Doomed

A Poem by Cherrie Palmer
"

first dates a close second to the dentist

"

A little wine, a little smile, a little charm, all the while

 dampened embers refuse to ignite.

As forced conversation drags out the night.

With the evening kiss they will depart

This love was doomed from the start.

Yep I prefer the dentist too, but hey you got your point well and truly across. Nothing worse than forced conversation and those long pregnant pauses is there!

Yes that's a fact
and i usually don't care for rhyme poems...i am still smiling at this one...
and yes, tough choice, Dentist or first date???
forced conversation is the worst, comfortable silence is the best.

I haven't had a date like that in a long time, (probably due to the fact I have been married for 20 years), but I can still remember them like they were yesterday. Yuck. I will say that they do get you to where you want to get to eventually. I will say that you have written this little cheeky poem with heart and the poem itself is very appealing to the eye. Some light verse is always enjoyable when done right. CD

yes me too, i tossed the idea around in my head a couple of days thought it would turn out fun.
I liked this. I'm starting over in my life. It wasn't the best poem to read in that respect, but it says much with very little. Well done!

Love can't ignite without the first, Hello :)
oh those first dates ...oh how we want them to "be the one" that satisfies eh!? i am smiling ma'am .. we all know what this scene is and how it feels ..so stinkin' awkward .. i like your simple plain language ..this poems brevity ..honesty and relatability ... all combine for a nice read for me... i smile because i foresee no further occurrences such as this one in my future ;))))))))))))) Hallelujah!

First dates are always a minefield.
But for some reason you always remember them.
