Forever And A Day

Forever And A Day

A Poem by Cherrie Palmer
"

a pledge

"

Sweet wine and roses red .

Memories made of gold,

chisel lines set in stone.

A pledge by us is made,

One of forever and a day.

These words we spoke on our wedding day

and a million times along life’s way.

A final pledge comes too soon

and again from the heart I say to you;

take my heart  and hold it near

and soon we’ll set by the living stream

watching waves of forever

crash into the Crystal Sea.

And when for us the Heavens part .

Roses red and Heavens wine

seal a toast made on high.

A pledge by us is now complete as

forever and a day becomes more

than a promise made.

Beautiful! Is the pledge forever together or is the pledge hidden in there. Waves of forever crashing into a crystal sea! What an amazing line! Beautiful poem Cherrie.

The pledge is for forever
Forever and a day. We plant these words and we must work hard to keep them true. I enjoyed the description written, made the reader feel the weight of the promise. Thank you Cherrie for sharing the amazing poetry. I enjoyed these words.

Nice to see the benefits of marriage.
Why shouldn't it last forever?
Unfortunately these days, couples just walk away before the journey is even started.

If at first you don't suceed.
Well here I was, ready to be all cynical about how it only feels like forever, bit you won me over and this is indeed a beautiful thought.
Although to be honest, I didn't realize forever was eternal, as any time i've heard it, they usually come to their senses and leave after a fortnite. Nothing to do with me of course, I guess some women just don't consider coco pops for dinner a romantic meal for two :)

This is a superb poem. Crafted with such loving words. A salutory reminder as to what marriage and devotion can be. Should be compulsory raeding for the modern youth! Wonderful warm words.
