Soulmate

Soulmate

A Poem by Cheryl J. Turner

Don't think I never look above and wonder where you are love

wonder, what you're doing at that very moment and smile as imagination brings me your movements

I often sing to the stars and hope my voice will caress you somehow

Hope that you hear the love from me and ask 'Do the sweet notes of love travel?...'

I hold the hands of trees, just to feel your skin against mine

and lay in the grass to have you surround me

Don't say I never talk to you, my rose

I talk constantly to my flowerbed, in the belief that the dew holds my words until they fall upon you as rain, in the hope that the travelling seeds carry our legacy until it reaches your ears

I always weep into my mug of tea as the violins scream their song

reminding me that every beautiful song is ours

not just those that we chose

Don't lose your faith in me, dearest

for I will rise above all of the obstacles that they have placed to trip me

I will fly as an angel above the devils snare

I will be reborn as yours and we will find each other love

when that time has come, sweetheart

joy will fill the clouds above you

and with each ray of sunshine that brushes your face, you will know

I am with you, and that all is fine

Your writing style is exquisite, very readable and carries strong messages of love in it's most beautiful form...the metaphor, which I love. Roses, dew and the arms of a tree...simply stunning word choice.
Thank you for a fabulously calm an collective read.
Cheers,
Helen :-)

Hmmmm....
this one definatly inspires some thought... is it love from a distance? Love after life? Love between two people that are seperated for other reasons beyond their control?

Beautiful metaphor and imagery. Well done. :)

Absolutely beautiful. I especially loved:

"I always weep into my mug of tea as the violins scream their song

reminding me that every beautiful song is ours

not just those that we chose"

Very stirring image, (although it does make me wonder if you have been watching me, lol).

In all honesty, this is one of my favorite poems I have read thus far. I loved reading and re-reading it. Excellent job, keep up the wonderful work!!
