Listen

Listen

A Poem by Cheryl J. Turner
"

An edited version of a piece I wrote a couple of years ago

"

Listen,
Don't you feel the echo of my heart
it sings to you, didn't you ask for a loving lullaby
a melody of roses, fresh as sunrise
Sweet as the day I first lay eyes upon you
Hear delicate words fall like raindrops
Soothing, that gentle sound
Like rivers great escape through valleys deep
Like the laughter of them all, the roaring sarcasm

Listen
Hear the beating of my mind, dreams given up so long ago
I'd never find, what I found, Who are you, love
Is the answer in the sky, Written on the clouds
Where should I be looking, tell hearts their path

Listen
To the raging of the ocean, waves crash upon the shore
each tidal but a symbol of all I've seen before
Wet feet, we stand in puddles of emotion
Damp souls, love let slip once more
Sing elation, the day you claimed feeling
Sing anger, of days gone by

Now, Look upon fingertips of yours
Power falls to the wand of love
Fate is left to weave it's web
We are defeated, by a course already set
The story has been written
Never, does love forget

A lovely tender write. I enjoyed the repetition of "Listen". Hearing is a very powerful and important sense with which our minds behold, even as we sleep, our hearing stays more alert than our other senses.
