Black Box

Black Box

A Poem by Chesney W.

Black box with silver lining.

Suffocating whatever's within.

The smell of rotting skin,

and rats eating you thin.

Many shed tear after tear.

Some drank beer after beer

to try to get you off of their minds.

The loss of a friend,

a mother,

a lover.

Now buried six feet under.

They all ask "why?"

and they still cry and cry.

The ground growing cold.

All of us growing old.

But for you, time stands still.

They wonder "will the bones remain?"

But I know the whole thing.

You asked God for forgiveness.

I was a witness.

Now you sit in your mansion

in Heaven.

The poem is amazing. Strong description allowed the reader to fall into the poem. Somethings are not for us to understand. Beer and wine relax the sad heart and mind. I did like the ending. Thank you for sharing the excellent poem.

To live is to die unfortunately...this read gives me a claustrophobic thought and makes me want to be cremated. It's dark and a bit puzzling. I wonder who is sitting in heavens mansion. Nice work here, the last few lines were well received.

well thank you very much
Great write. Death is depressing, but it is apart of life. You just wish people didn't die, but everyone will eventually. Thanks for sharing.
