Mirror

Mirror

A Poem by Vesi

Have you ever flirted with Death?
Kissing the cold and catastrophic lips of depression,
Wrapping yourself into the embrace of emptiness to rid the ever-growing rock pulling you down,
Pulling far beneath the sea to swim with the carcasses of those who have been kissed to sleep,
Dragging Death down into the bed that you have created to lay with bittersweet relief,
Seeing each kiss left behind on worn skin,
Every failed attempt to make love with escape,
Throbbing fingers reach through flesh and bone to find the source of agony and insecurities,
The burning rock that pulls a blanket of nightmares over restless eyes,
Whispers of sweet dreams kiss your ears as your hands pull back,
Staring at the source of suffering only to see your lifeless face looking back,
The mirror falls from failing fingers, shattering on the floor,
Death caresses your face and brings you closer,
Pulling you down into it's embrace, whispering goodnight
