Everyone Could Use a Sunflower

Everyone Could Use a Sunflower

A Poem by Devan McKinley

The he loves me,
He loves me not's,
Are scattered on the ground.

Yellow-golden petals,
Fall without a sound.

The seeds in the middle,
Are half picked apart by birds.
But they dont seem to mind.
They sway without a word.

Little kids play hide and seek,
In the heat of a summer's afternoon.
They hide behind their great green stems,
That seem to reach up to the moon.

Rows and rows of palm sized suns,
That clouds can never cover.
These flowers can bring joy to anyone.
Family, friend, or lover.
