Goodbye

Goodbye

A Poem by T. L. O'Neal

Goodbye

Written by: T. L. O’Neal

To the one I loved

How do I say goodbye

When you left

I thought I would die

It wasn’t all your fault

And it wasn’t all mine

But you’re the one who left

And our hearts were untwined

One family became two

As if by some unseen hand

I would have made it right

If I could command

But there’s no fixing

This broken union

All I can hope

Is to lessen the friction

With this I must say goodbye

Though my heart is still sore

I hope we can still be friends

Or for me you can ignore

This is really touching. Really to say good be to someone who you have trusted and loved. It leaves a hole in your soul, that only time can heal, if ever. The resolution was great, you pulled it off by saying, that you could possibly be friends. Thats all we can hope for. being friends after a relationship is hard but can be done. Good poem and heartfelt

Very much like a prayer. I've been the guy in this situation. You have f**k all ideas as for a course of action and you feel like you've been a right s**t-heel. I know all about this kind of pain, and it's even worse when you did wrong by the person completely not by design.

This is very sad. I've been there, though through a different perspestive. But you have captured the pain of seperation so very well here. Great write!

This poem is pain.
The writer is creating an athmosphere of a mind on its emotional down of strained melancholy "I thought I would die" and timide hope "I hope we can still be friends". Those are very affecting.

I feel like give a hug.

Lost love is tough! This poem seems a bit generic. I would like it to read more personal- "heart sore...can ignore" Your heart is broken, crumbled and your family has been divided... make me feel it! Who's fault was it? What happened? I want to read the true gut wrenching life feeling stuff in a poem.
