Sans toi

Sans toi

A Poem by Elwina
"

A poem in french, for the few of you who actually understand it...

"

Mon corps crie de ton manque,

Mon coeur, mes os, ma peau

C’est un trou dans le ventre

Vide de ton berceau

Je t’aurais voulu chaque jour

Vivre avec toi chaque moment

Partager mes premiers amours

T’avoir pour confident

Seule depuis ton départ

Elle me colle à la peau

Le long de mon histoire

Elle s’accroche à mes os

J’aurais tant voulu te sauver

Rêver à deux notre insouciance

Ensemble rire, parler, s’échapper

Préserver notre enfance

Bercée dans un cauchemar

Elle me colle à la peau

A peint mon coeur en noir

M’enchaine à ton tombeau

Au delà de mes apparences

Une petite fille qui ère

Au plus profond de ton absence

Cherche en vain ta lumière

Mais depuis ton départ

La mort ne cesse de me parler

Depuis mon désespoir

Je ne cesse d’y penser

Comment sourire sans toi ?

Oh, petit frère

Comment guérir de toi ?

Qui est ma chair

Je suis en vie, je suis

En vie sans toi

Et je me perds

Peut-être en vie, mais si

Meurtrie de toi

A coeur ouvert

Je suis en vie, mais suis

Anéantie sans toi,

Je suis sous terre.

I am not great with French, but I think I understand enough.

The loss if a brother hits you deep within your very being, affects you throughout your life.

I sense the heartfel mourning and loss over such a tragic event in a childs life, the loss of an infant sibling.

A sad, but poetic tribute. Beautifully penned.

Very tragic look at a loss of a sibling, all the things that one could share, but it is not possible..........loved the french version, very good, just so sad, you have written a beautiful, heartfelt write.

Quite an accurate translation.

With a few corrections, it would be something like this :

My body shouts your lack,
My heart, my bones, my skin
It is a hole in the belly
Empty from your cradle

I would have wanted you every day
Live with you every instant
Share my first loves
Have you as intimate friend

Alone since your departure
It sticks to my skin
Along my history
It hangs on to my bones

I wish I could have saved you
Dream our innocence together
Together laugh, speak, escape
Preserve our childhood

Rocked in a nightmare
It sticks to my skin
Painted my heart in black
Enchains me to your tomb

Beyond my appearances
A little girl who roams
In the depths of your absence
Searches your light in vain

But since your departure
Death does not cease speaking to me
From within my despair
I do not cease thinking of it

How to smile without you?
Oh, little brother
How to recover from you?
Who is my flesh

I am alive, I am
Alive without you
And I am lost

Perhaps alive, but so
Bruised from you
Raw hearted

Buried, I live
Filled with dread
In a graveyard

I am alive, but am
Ruined without you,
I am underground.

Que j'ai lu pour l'instant est stupéfiant.

'Bercée dans un cauchemar
Elle me colle à la peau
A peint mon coeur en noir
M’enchaine à ton tombeau"

my French isn't very good these days,
but this is a very powerful verse.
and also the ending verse-
"I'm alive, but am devastated without you, I'm underground."
I tried-but i'm not the best translator...
Still---it is a great write (:
