Do the Dinosaur

Do the Dinosaur

A Story by Clifford
"

A completely true story

"
James lay in bed, praying to the universe for the sweet release of death. He was sick, and the mound of tissues sticking out of the garbage can was proof. Well, some of the tissues were from something else, but this isn't that kind of story. Get your mind out of the gutter!
James had the flu, and boy was it kicking his ample tush. He missed class today, and his roommate refused to come anywhere near him. That was okay, though. The voices in his head kept him company.
He had long since lost track of time when he heard a knock. In his delirious state, he couldn't tell if it was on his door or the room next to his. He groaned and rolled over in bed. The knock came again. And again. And again. He still couldn't tell if it was his door, but whoever was knocking needed to be told a lesson.
"Uhhhh."
Like a zombie, he rose and shuffled over to the door. He grabbed the doorknob and missed twice before managing to get a grip.
Knock knock knock
He threw open the door.
A man in a dinosaur suit was shuffling by. He turned toward James. "Sup, man?" the dinosaur said.
James closed the door and went back to bed.

Author's Note

Clifford
A bout of sickness has me down, but I had to share this story. As with all my "based on a true story" tales, this one has creative liberties taken. Forgive me if my writing is crappier than usual. I would like to blame it on the aforementioned sickness.

Very unique ending!

The way this story concluded made me think about the obvious state of delirium one gets in when suffering under the strain of illness; the mind comes up with the most ridiculous notions. And on the other hand it reminds us that when we do need our moments of peaceful rest we are often disturbed by the most silliest things. And a guy dressed in a dinosaur suit sure tops that pile!

A very inventive write, Clifford. Delirious with a sense of humour pervading. Well written.

It was a strange day for ol' James, that's for sure. Thanks for your time and kindness, Doodley.

In these two recent snippets of yours, it seems your inhibitions have been tossed in a big way. I love it. You seem to be getting in touch with a much more dramatic portrayal of your interesting point of view. I love the sense of exaggeration & the comic asides. Very delightful & entertaining writing. Sorry you were sick, tho! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

That dinosaur is memorable! *smile*
Haha, this one made me laugh. It's possible to see some real crazy stuff when you're on flu meds/fevered. But like the saying goes, fact can be stranger than fiction. I enjoy your style and the the amusing quirky little details that you sprinkle in. Nice write. :)
