Season's Greeting

Season's Greeting

A Poem by Clifford

No longer do we have bright summer rays.
We don't feel the comfort of warm summer days.
The birds don't sing their cheerful songs.
The nights are becoming long.

Temperatures rapidly plummet,
Intense, chill winds will buffet.
White flakes flying through the sky
making the air rather dry.

Most people would expect "Season's Greetings" to be something cheerful, but instead you are painting the more truthful story of how nature is shutting down for the season. I tend to be more connected to the ways that occasions are manifested in nature, rather than the materialistic jam that most people are focused on at this time of year, so I very much love your point of view. As for the poetic strength? Well, just keep practicing . . . I wrote about 200 poems before mine started smoothing out some! *wink! wink!* Fondly, Margie

Always like it when people say, summer's round the corner. Blast, missed it again.

I know to most people that’s kind of a sad thing but I just love it ! Personally I feel so happy when winter comes. I’d just get away with summer and have a year long winter !
... I know I’m a bit different from most people out there :/

Not very serious but still rhymes and makes sense. Two things which I personally enjoy in poetry. :) I liked this poem Clifford. It made me smile and feel a little bit smug that in the other hemisphere we're coming into summer! :)

Sounds good to me, Clifford.

Simple, flowing and on point. Sometimes these simple poems are excellent to get the poetic touch back.

Nice work.

Thank you, Doodley. Very true.
I was really enjoying it until I got to "making the southerners vomit.". Could you come up with something else ?
