Drowning Concrete

Drowning Concrete

A Poem by Saturnalia
"

And I've been left to suffocate on what remains.

"

My remains burn till done

Under this ever glowing sun.

They turn stale through the heat

Dying on the broken street.

(Alone)

I’m drowning and I don’t want to know

If you are going to try and help me sow

As I begin to reap all the things I’ve said

And all of the words that I regret I bled.

(For you)

I’d rather not see until it’s much too late

It’s foolish, but I can still feel your hate.

And I knew before you even thought

That you’d leave me here in this empty lot.

(Bleeding and)

(CHORUS)

I’m breathing in the dust.

Its taste is the only thing I trust.

You found me lying on the concrete

That has…become so sweet.

Just falling in the asphalt.

Why don't you know I’m dying here?

You can’t see the inherent fear.

It caught me and pulled me face down.

As I'm here...just to drown.

I'm bleeding on the street.

You'll continue to let me

drown in the concrete.

(END CHORUS)

Would you ever want to feel me

And all the sins you have to see?

Would you take them from my skin?

And would you revel when you’re within?

(Me)

Breathe into me with your dust so I can live

I'll have to die and you won't need to give

Anything that you don't want to sacrifice.

You won't have to be trapped in my lies.

(Together)

So leave, my petulant dear, and disappear

Even as you say words we'll never hear.

To me it’s not the same on the floor

Watching as you close another door.

(Between)

(CHORUS)

(BRIDGE)

I'm falling and you're just

Watching me hit the ground.

I see there's this smile

Every time you've found

Me splayed out on the...

(CHORUS)

(OUTRO)

Lie to me.

Don’t try to

Make me see the truth.

I don’t want to know

If the world is dying.

I’ll just drown in the concrete.

I’m choking on the dust

Of its glorious remains.

Still I can’t tell whether you want

To lift me up again.

You’ve let me drown in the concrete.

Author's Note

Saturnalia
Well, I lost the paper with the lyrics on it so I had to go by memory and I just found it so I decided to post it. Just a song about being left behind.
P.S. I didn't want to keep typing the chorus out, so I just put CHORUS.

This is definately the kind of song you listen to over and over again. I'm there... I especially loved your second verse. I can feel it with something like 12 stones background if you get what I mean... if you know who they are. WONDERFUL :)

It's really good. I didn't know you wrote songs, but hey it was good.
