A Poem by Clyde du Coeur
"

About an incredible friend I met at university... and how she is better than me *rolls eyes*

"

I can't watch you without drowning in emotion,
Watching what I could have been.

I can't watch you without feeling overwhelmed,
Watching what I could be.

I can't watch you knowing I will never be like you,
Watching what I will never be...

As you grow and tread higher ground towards your dream,
I sink forever lower.

But I battle through because you are fabulous...

You are everything I aspire to be.

Clyde du Coeur
Every time I watch this girl sing, I break down in tears. I could never explain my emotional overload until now. I penned this minutes after she stepped off stage tonight. I was lucky to get the poem down in words.

Aww :) I'm sure the both of you are amazing with all the gifts that God gave you!
I've seen some people perform on stage and have been close to tears!
This is really good :)

Wow. To be touched by the power of someone's voice, or by the words they write, the goosebumps are still the same. Nicely written!

Good piece, thought a bit painful to read. Not because it's a bad poem cause it's not it's a fantastic poem, but the emotion behind it is sad. It's great to admire someone, but sometimes it can take away from how we feel about ourselves, and that shouldn't happen. Great piece.

I think you are being to hard on yourself... I think you paid great tribute to someone you admire but I am sure you are looked up to be many yourself.

What an excruciating dilemma, knowing a beautiful talent in action and knowing it's not you. You love to see it yet hate fate for not letting it be you. It's best never to envy it though and end up like Iago, best just to our own knitting. Knit one, pearl one ...

You nailed the feeling down perfectly.

lovely poem, you captured a feeling I know quite well. Yet I suspect you have a lot of talent yourself and must leave a lot of other people feeling this same way
