The Mirror

The Mirror

A Poem by Mason Rayburn
"

Written as a song.

"

"This isn't me
It's somebody else!" he screamed
As he ran away from the mirror
But the mirror won't lie
And it won't forget
The image of your fallen self

Are you hiding your sins
Under your bed?
Has the monster you hid there
Entered your head?
You can't hide your sins,
Or your skeleton's closet.
Did it hit you hard
The moment you lost it?
The innocence of your youth
Can never be found
When you replace it with
Prince Persia's crown.

"This isn't me
It's somebody else!" she screamed
As she ran away from the mirror
But the mirror won't lie
And it won't forget
The image of your fallen self.

When the world looks at you
What will they see?
A princess of God
Or a slave to Prince Persia?
Does your image reflect
The person you are?
Or does the mirror scare you
Because your heart is scarred?
Your beauty won't hide
Your pain inside.
Only deepen the sorrow
You try to hide

"This isn't me
It's somebody else!" they screamed
As they ran away from the mirror
But the mirror won't lie
And it won't forget
The image of your fallen self

Loved it. (You may or may not be getting sick of my reviews, but I just love commenting on your poetry because it's awesome. >w>)
This one reminds me of The Picture of Dorian Gray. No matter what you do, you can't escape your true reflection; the reflection of unrepentant sin. C:
