Crystal And Glass

Crystal And Glass

A Poem by Elizabeth Fiske
"

Love can be beautiful, and at the same time it can shatter hearts into pieces...

"
Do I annoy you?
Am I just not good enough?
The least you could do
is say "hi"
Am I not your type?
Am I just not right?
Why is she the spark in your eyes?

She has beauty,
I bet she never cries.
She has the clothes,
I bet she has never been alone.
She is way too smart,
I bet she has never had a broken heart.

I'm just trash
Shattered like crystal and glass.
So I can't stop leading myself on.
And I feel like I'm drowning
All alone.
Where did you go?
I feel like frozen petals plucked,
From Winter's rose;
They fall and....
Shatter!
Like crystal and glass.
They say to let if free...
If you love it.
But am I letting go
Because I got bit?
Is it worth it,
To love a lost cause?

She is solid and beautiful...
Like crystal and glass...

Beautiful and truthful, everything a poem needs.

"Nothing ever hurts us more than love." ~ Ring The Bells, by Satellite.

Isn't it funny how love is that one thing that we always search for? Then our heart gets broken, and we take a break. And then we're right back to searching again. The logical side of me tells myself not to try for love, because my heart will just be broken. And then the other side tells myself that maybe it will be different this time. Well, it hasn't been different yet. Like this poem says, it all just shatters. Over and over...

Overall, a beautiful poem. It's definitely one of my favorites. Very emotional. I can tell when a poem comes from the heart, and this one came directly from the heart. It might have been a broken heart, but that doesn't make it any less amazing. In fact, there's still beauty in the broken, it's just harder to find. I believe that's what writers do. They find all the beautiful in the broken and they write it on paper.
