The Brightest Star In The Sky

The Brightest Star In The Sky

A Poem by Elizabeth Fiske
"

A poem about a dear person I know who is fighting cancer...

"
Zac lies in a hospital bed
Slowly dieing of cancer in his head.
To be a rock-star,
A dream held close to his heart.
The ex-boyfriend of a good friend.
One day,
I thought I could love him
Without a bittersweet end.
Everyday,
I wonder how to save him,
Anyway to save him from an end,
Could the cancer take me instead?
He's one of those people
I would take a bullet for.
One of those people
I'm living for.
How he captivated me,
A Mystery.
How I need to save him,
Destiny.
Is he a sign
That love will never be mine?
Or
That I have to stay strong
Because life will move along?
It scares me
How death can strike
Before dreams come true.
Though we fight,
We can be overpowered.
I never realized before
That life can stop in an instant.
I never gave thought
To threat close at hand,
One flaw of man;
All the doors can close
Before they're unlocked.
Out of our control
The bullet is shot.
Tonight,
I'll miss the brightest star in the sky.
A hole in my heart....
An angel won't be coming back...
Zac

This poem is about a guy I met through the school musical. He dreamed of becoming a rock-star, and he had the talent for it. He's one of those people I get a feeling about. The feeling that tells me he/she is an important person in my life. Right now, Zac is fighting brain cancer. Doctors discovered a brain tumor, he went through surgery to remove it, and now he is chemotherapy for his cancer. In 2007, I lost my grandmother to cancer and last year I lost my grandfather to cancer as well. now seeing that it can strike even the young, and the one who was one of the very few people who didn't judge you and was always the nicest person you've ever met, I'm terrified. I hope everybody finds at least someway to help others who are suffering from this terrifying killer. I know I will.

This was a beautiful poem. Cancer is truly an evil thing. It can only be described as a thing -- it doesn't deserve any title better than that. Cancer affects everyone around you. It's pure evil. The only thing it does good, is it brings people together for a certain amount of time. And let me tell you from experience, a huge group of people who care deeply about something really can make a huge difference to the world, or even just to one person. My middle school of around 350 students raised nearly 2000 dollars for a girl in my school with Leukemia by selling orange bracelets. Something as simple as that was capable of buying this girl an expensive air purifier that her parents couldn't afford. She now is at home. She has been cancer free for a year now, and it's been a year and a half since she was diagnosed back when she was in Middle School, on her 15th birthday.

You have an excellent taste in pics and your grammar was a little shaky but, good. Your spelling and punctuations were flawless so well done. Anyways for your writing and general it was descriptive and nice focus on the major subject of cancer and those who are close to someone with it. I relate in some ways as I believe thats how the only grandfather I knew died from but, then again the grown up with never tell us little kids so who know. But sure the the cancer is somewhat of a curse but, who knows who brought it upon our world. Well anyways you did a wonderful job all and all and I might even considered you being featured for next month the only question is "What great work you be posted along side you." Well done and keep up the excellent writings.

Awww....SO favorited. It's musically inclined to be brilliant and beautiful, speaking to all who feast on the wording. Thank you for sharing your story, part of his story. And the song you chose too is amazingly fit.

Elizabeth, I am truly sorry for your losses; I also have had people close to me died because of cancer. This poem brought tears to my eyes...which proves how talented you are! My thought and prayers, as well as my love, go out to you and your friend's family!

This is a heartbreaking piece, but it holds strong emotions and beauty. Cancer is a horrible thing, and I pray for the peiople that are dawned with it. But, one day you will meet again, for better or for worst you'll be together as friends and family.
