Hail

Hail

A Poem by Cole Hayley
"

A poem truly about love.

"

Hail.

You sink into eternity

Telling me which way to turn.

I know where you slipped away,

Beneath that autumn night's sky

Singing the poems I wrote you.

It was a haunting night that I recall,

I caught you lingering in your night gown,

Sobbing in your sleep.

The visions still seep in to this day,

I laid you down and tried to take the pain away,

You screamed at me to leave,

But you knew I had to stay.

All that memory was has now become a portrait,

Hanging on a dark wall in the back of my mind.

So many unspoken words are strung up,

I wish I could tell you how I really feel.

I wish I wasn't too afraid.

That bittersweet night was your last,

But it was the first time I felt what was right.

Ever since then I was searching,

For a sign of something,

Maybe Its all just some kind of illusion.

One that nobody really figures out.

But the one thing I do know

Is that I dreamt so long about you,

On this deep blue bridge,

So far away..

A beautiful story. A lot of hidden story in the poem. I like the way you described memories and things wished were said and done.
"Ever since then I was searching,
For a sign of something,
Maybe Its all just some kind of illusion."
Thank you for the excellent poem.

Beautiful piece you've got on your hands here! The tone you've set was perfect for this piece and really made me feel (like all poetry should). A pleasure to read.

Love, unrequited as it can be, can be a source of both pain and growth. Many know this feeling, but few can express it this well. Good job!

I can't really say anything right now, I'm speechless (and that's not some review that a person leaves for the sake of leaving a review, I seriously am). And I feel--for want of better word--sad. I love the line, I wish I could tell you how I really feel. Mainly because it wasn't said in past tense. I guess it shows that you still love her. Hooray. It's a beautiful poem, thanks for sharing! :)

this is also very good.. it is difficult to let ones armor down long enough to show the soft belly hidden beneath it.. but my experience tell me that you can write pretty things and your audience will cheer.. but when you let your guard down and share your truth then you become one with others that may need your truth to find their own..

Beautiful, absolutely amazing! everything I've read by you has been absolutely amazing! It also leaves me with some curiosity, which is a great quality when writing poems. (It's more difficult to pull off when writing poems) Or at least, it is to me. :)
