When I Speak of Pain

When I Speak of Pain

A Poem by William Liston
"

The title describes it

"
My heart is torn ...
An art is born ...
The black ink boiling in my pen
shall speak of times
when weakened minds
endure the pains of life again.

Oh hear the mourn
~ each burden worn
ignites a flare within my soul.
My vision's blurred ...
each tear obscured
the happiness of life in whole.

Evoked from pain
and joys that wane,
desires scream a cry unheard
to give this tale,
so those in hell
can see a tear behind each word.

Outstanding piece ! There is life in this write and one is forced( positively) to feel the emotions behind. When I speak of pain-. A very apt title to this piece. I also find a sublime link of your poem -pain and pen in this write.
Wanting to be heard, a desire to let out those painful emotions and what not. When in pain, everything seems dim and lifeless, and tears become reality of our existence. Wonderful write and all the three stanzas are equally emoting.

You're right. This poem and "Pain and a Pen" are very similar, both structurally and thematically. I.. read more

Aw, William!
You so deeply honor me again by composing in one of my original forms, the Fours 'n Eights (Bound Hearts http://www.writerscafe.org/writing/RichardJ/1774696/ is an example with the rules for any who wish to learn it) … only difference is your fours are stacked, but the undeniable smooth, rhythmic effect is just as impacting when formatted in this way.
I must commend you, too, on how you've taken a deep and abiding part of most each of our hearts, souls, and minds and blended them with your own to express in a manner many would wish they had the skills to.
I bow in growing admiration at how masterfully yours have broadened since I first read you.
You may be young, My Friend, but there is nothing whatsoever immature about your art or in the way you apply it upon the canvas of our imaginations.
Brilliant word choices, arrangement, impressive grammar, emotive power, balanced and appealing presentation, etc; highlight this work.

This is excellent poetry of the highest caliber, William … I'm growing more envious! ⁓ Richard : )

(I really like your new avatar, too)
