I Know

I Know

A Poem by Comewhatevermay

I tried to tell you
I tried, I tried
I could have broke it down for you
But would you have listened?
When it was me in those shoes
I know I didn't
I did my best by you
I tried, I tried
So your desire took off and fell to pieces
Can't say I'm happy about it
Your pain is my pain
Our lives, each other's
I wished so much more for you
More for your soul
But that's what happens when you think that's what you deserve
There's nothing romantic about committing yourself to being torn down
The good only seems so good in comparison to the horrific
Constantly hoping for the upswing in a never-ending game
Such bittersweet extremes
If that's what you expect
That's all you'll ever get
And I can't compete with something you built up in your head
The light is coming for you
Like it came for me
The truth is gonna shape you
Gonna set you free
So hard to let go of the confines that keep your world small
I know, I know
But soon you're gonna know

i see this in a certain way i relate to...sometimes even when we know a relationship is not good for us, we stay in it..because we just fear leaving the security of having "someone"---not being alone...but we may find often that alone is much better than "with"--when the relationships are hurting us rather than healing us...
