Please don't thank me for investing in you
Cuz I feel slighted in the return
If only gratitude and being a good person
Put out like you do
Don't thank me because I'm cheaper than therapy
It would have been better if you'd just left me alone when you knew
Like I did with you
Helping to build someone up because you care
And using them at the same time
With some misguided sense of nobility
It's those under handed intents that leave a bad taste in my mouth
If I gave you the satisfaction of knowing this hurt
I'd have to about every other offense I felt I didn't deserve
Then I'd have to cry about everything
And I don't have that kind of time

we often have mixed motivation...and often it seems impossible to be totally selfless..and then we fall victim to someone with dual purpose.

i love this piece...and can relate to it so well...

in fifth line i read it as ..."cheaper than therapy"

really like the ending...those two lines are an explosion...
