She once was.

She once was.

A Poem by Corset

Dumpster brimming;
with two more just like it
will go to a landfill twice
a week
and then will later be covered with
a layer or two of dirt,
Microchipping the world with trash.
Many Centuries from now,
it will be uncovered and tested
by those much more advanced than we
to see what it was and how
primitive man was able to survive.
They will see how he was able to microwave
his food, plug in his electronics, and
see what he fed his best friend
by testing the feces left
in plastic bags.
He will wonder and marvel at
our ingenuity, and he will wonder
why God suffered us upon this earth
for so long,
and wonder why Mother Earth
did not shrug us off sooner,
 like the infestation of fleas
that we are,
 leaving her bald
in great deserts, and
scabbed in great cities.
He will wonder why she turns
to create a breeze to cool our skins,
provide us air to breath with her trees and
feeds us from her fragrant blossoms
while we; like ungrateful children
write sonnets about the great beauty
she once was.

the problem with poets is the thinking through the difficulty of needing to speak adequate to our condition.
I woke up yesterday only to find a dead possum behind my house...So I spent more than two hours trying to understand where and possum would come from , why he came here to die without returning and how do I dispose of his remains. Centuries from now, when possums are extinct and radiation which rumbled through our souls in the 2020's, people would have understood more how we processed death than how we ever managed to process life. Will the entirety of love and heartache be too much to bare or will sorrow and forbidding be the new "love". I read today of this Apache tribe that you had to say the opposite thing to if you wanted the correct response. 7 lines before the end you write that "He will wonder why she turns to create a breeze to cool our skins". Are you suggesting that the "He", White and bearded and framed sitting for decades above my mothers freezer, could be instead a "She". God forbid! '

.......you're amazing/ dana

Amazing how far we have come... advancements in technology has made the world a better place and a worse place then when I grew up. I am afraid it is more of the later. When it comes to nature the neglect gets worse. I think of the song Revelation(Mother Earth) by Ozzy Osbourne.

There will come a day when man will look out and get very scared at what he did and how difficult it will be to fix it all. Nature is here for a reason. Many foolishly take advantage of that.

I wish that I could cure the world of her illness!
Yes, our beautiful planet laid to waste by our thoughtlessness and selfish ways. If anyone survives, what will they think of us?

yeah, they might have a better solution XD we need to find one. :D
I agree my friend. Dear Corset, men won't be content till all things beautiful is destroyed. Thank you for sharing the powerful and needed poetry. Nature need us less than we need her.

You know I love your work and you are welcome.
An apocalyptic poetic declaration - summarising the futility of our world today! The optimism to be found in your interesting write is - someone survived to find our mess … :-)
