Interest

Interest

A Poem by Corset
"

The game of walls

"
I'm just curious, I having been circled by numbers
and for the love of math
and politics..
have a few questions...
I smell a plan...or a plot
or a stage perhaps...
for some very good actors.
How much money is NOT being paid out in payroll
to the government workers?
How much is our government worker payroll on a monthly basis?
If it sits in a bank waiting to be paid out after a government shut down,
just how much INTEREST is that unpaid payroll earning
in one months time compounded daily?
What will the government do with this extra interest income earned?
I wonder if it will be enough to build a wall?
Or pay down the deficit...
your thoughts?

Got a feeling the interest might pay for the cement for the wall.
But once again it's the workers who suffer.
But then again, workers vote too.

I don't have a mind for deep numerical analysis like this, but I'm glad for those who do! Great job.

:D thank you!
the news says there are approximately 800,000. out of work x approx. 3000. each salary a month ( probably generous) that would approximately $2400000000 in monthly payroll.

Across the pond but aware of what's happening in the USA. How are those workers managing with no income, it is mind boggling? We have never had similar in the UK. Politics nowadays is nothing but a nasty smell. Topical write Corset.

I wish I could answer as best I could yet I could only think of two, one is they spend it o other thing, pay debt or on military material or any other expense on the nation's interest and two is that the government is currupt. either way, it very interesting thoughts you have here my friend, glad to see u around...I hope all is well

oh my goodness, I haven't seen you in forever Pax! So glad to know you are still around too!
They say it does cost more to be in shutdown than it does to keep it running. Although I have no idea if that is true or not. An interesting point for sure. I do not at all like the gamesmanship and bullshit at everyone else's expense, it is sad and erodes the trust of the people even further. This is similar to the question I have of the money that goes into Social Security from undocumented immigrants. Where does all that money go. If they have a regular job, then they pay into the system too, but never get the pay out at the end. You have made a great societal comment here and I wish I could answer the question. Loved the thoughts provoked here.

It all makes me so very sad and puzzled and, of course, feeling like that doesn't accomplish anything.

Thank you Lyn, I agree.
I agree with Jacob. It is all about money and it's a lose/lose situation that has gone on far, far too long :) Julie

good questions...it's all about money in the end....and the walls that are already up between the parties don't appear that they will crumble any time soon. Nobody really wins in all this.
