Past Boiling: Women are from Venus

Past Boiling: Women are from Venus

A Poem by Corset

To thaw a Freeze- dried heart, just add some fresh tears
 watch them soften and swell....
I too flew too close to the fire
I know this now, but at the time this word
"maturity"  was still at bay
and who could say that I wouldnt again

He isn't doing anything that he wouldnt
naturally do...
one wonders what would have happened had I
been a fraction closer to his surface,
as it was I had been close enough
to feel the fire
the singe was certainly uncomfortable
but I suppose the real question is..
is it forgivable..
because that is what it takes
to pull away.

Singed and uncomfortable, maybe it's time to move on before the situation gets worse. Prolonging just causes more pain. I say it takes courage to walk away. The forgiveness might take longer to deal with. Universal theme Corset, many will relate to. I felt the burn, nicely conveyed. Excellent opening lines, draw the reader in.

if we can forgive we can either forget or at least come to terms and find some kind of happiness moving forward..but harboring pain and anger...just doesn't work well...it is like the Langston Hughes' poem "Cross"--
carrying the anger is a burden...
i really love this poem...
it reminds me of a couple of situations i was in...and how i made myself move away....so the burn would ease.

Ifs and buts are certainly a lingering effect after a break up for sure.

I really love the opening three lines.
