The Fall of Summer

The Fall of Summer

A Poem by Ebb and Flow
"

The time of year when Summer gives way to Fall...

"
Previous Version
This is a previous version of The Fall of Summer.

Foliage falling
 nature's calling
 Summer's closed her eyes.
 Tears streaming
 power's weaning
 Summer prepares goodbyes.

Gaining power
every hour
Fall rises from his sleep.
Never aging
forever waging
Both Fall and Summer weep.

Ever desiring
time transpiring
Summer can't hold onto Fall.
Tender lust
unspoken trust
passing moments enthrall.

Stolen breaths

uncertain deaths

their love never ending.

Stolen kiss

ageless bliss

one not both ascending.

It is a great piece. The rhyme scheme supports it well. And the romance between the seasons - sublime!

This is a surprise type poem you start with nature then subtlely personafiy the departing season and the new one replacing it. This is IMHO top-notch poetry thanks for sharing!

I love it! I think the line that really opened up the imagry in my mind the most was "both fal and summer weep." I wouldn't call it a work in progress it seems finished to me. I love the picture you picked for it as well.
