There Will Be Peace

There Will Be Peace

A Poem by Courtney

There will be peace on this forsaken Earth
Even as wars rage on in defiance.
The voidless sky has promised a rebirth
With its screams of agonizing silence.

I believe this world will come to an end
In its time, when the reverence of stars
Diminishes. When no one can pretend
Anymore that their bodies hold no scars.

Everlasting peace permeates the air
We breathe. It shines through the glass barriers
That we have built up to hide our despair.
It penetrates our souls with childish wonders

So we can see with unobstructed eyes
The brilliant beams the sun can emit.
So we may, perhaps, fully realise
That peace is truly what we make of it.

There will be peace. As sure as the moon glows
And the radiant sun shines up above.
As sure as the shushing wind whispers prose
To the sighing, breathless trees with love

And devotion; an ode to promises
Made and kept by the endless universe:
Of peace, of splendor. A world of endless,
Quiet bliss where the webs of life converse

In hushed tones of respectful remembrance.
There will be peace. Silence. Softly flowing
Words, carried by the wind's whispered reverence;
Forever moving, speaking, allowing

Hope to arise. Emerging from the dark
Comes a golden hue of shimmering seas
That swells through the land as it disembarks
So we may rest and know there will be peace.

This write is so encouraging! It reminds me of Revelation 21:4. The earth will last and that is important to remember given all of the scary problems going on in the world.

Fantastic poem. I'm a long-time cynic myself, but with this piece you almost convinced me to be an optimist. Seriously though, the flow and rhyme of this poem was perfect, and the hope in your words is contagious. Well done.

One day the storm will subside and as the wind takes off the pieces of debris in gusty blows, there will be a new-found peace !
