Athos

Athos

A Poem by Crimson1

From within the bubble

The burning city below is safely visible

At such distance

Oblivion radiates dim, alluring light

But as glass splinters

And sight descends upon the void

Sickening

Fear

The nightmare of God is mortality

We live in burning cities.

There's a lot to this short piece.

I like the idea of God, the bubble-boy...also, the idea of the bubble fracturing, and our nightmares, our burning, rotting, realities, infesting his beyondness.

Also, to me at least, "burning cities" alludes to Sodom and Gomorrah, which might imply that God isn't such a passive spectator to our horrors.
