I Saw Them in the Hollow

I Saw Them in the Hollow

A Poem by CrimsonHints

The air hangs heavy in my throat,

Falling like lead into my chest.

My eyelids flutter unwillingly,

Baited by the thought of rest.

With a car crash jerk to reality,

Goosebumps rise to meet frosted air.

Afraid to peer into the void of my closet,

Terrified of the yellow-eyed stare.

I smelled the rust of their evil.

I felt them as they followed.

I tasted their metallic aura.

I saw them in the hollow.

Fear grips my heart in a vice,

But doesn’t stop its pounding.

Frozen, unable to scream,

Static neuron alarms sounding.

My heart bangs against my sternum;

Trying to burst free of its chamber.

Blood rushing with my adrenaline,

But I can’t turn from this danger.

I smell the blood on their breath.

I feel them as they follow.

I taste their acrid air.

I see them in the hollow
