Goodnight

Goodnight

A Poem by CrimsonHints

The memory of your tiny feet,

Patter to your door.

Dare I think to take a peek,

To remember anymore.

There you lay with your dreary head;

Heaven’s angel sleeps.

My first boy tucked in bed,

Not a sound or peep.

Goodnight my precious wonder;

May winds lift your wings.

I’m not scared fo distant thunder,

For my little Robin sings.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Down the corridor I follow,

To another room in night.

For here in midnight’s hollow,

Lies my gift in moon’s light.

Hours slipped past without mention,

As you worked under gaze of the moon.

Time failed to capture your attention,

As you fell to the clock’s steady tune.

Goodnight my dearest one;

I’ll lay a blanket on your shoulders.

Perhaps the morning sun,

Can stop you from aging older.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Now to stop upon a thorn,

But one I cherish oh so dearly.

But to witness this in morn,

Is to see love oh so clearly.

He rests on cushions of red,

Wrapped in the comfort of visions.

Always with two horns upon his head,

But unseen when the night’s fully risen.

Goodnight my hooded bird;

Keep your mind veiled in twilight.

May there never be nightmares heard,

Or demons afoot in the night.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Now to chance upon her scene,

Oh Oracle of brighter days.

To see now, her bathed in green,

Hidden from all human gaze.

Incessant typing fills the air,

From one who does  not sleep.

Tightly bound, her crimson hair,

To madness, her fingers keep.

Goodnight my lovely friend;

I wish you well on moonlit travels.

And for our time to never end;

For all mysteries to be unraveled.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Walking the house of my father before,

My blood slinks through the kitchen.

I lean to peer through the door,

To see his hands covered in mittens.

A late night feast fit for a king;

Made under a guise or two.

But what trouble could this bring?

What harm could a child do?

Goodnight my little demon;

Grow tall and grow strong.

Seems your bedtime’s beaten,

But the nights are all long.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Fallen for the coolness of stone,

You lay with your head on your arms.

Darkness took you when you were alone,

But I’ll make sure you’re taken from harm.

Stubborn in that world beyond,

As you are when you are awake.

Trapped in dreams’ sweetest song;

Night gives for whatever you’ll take.

Goodnight my red-chested dreamer;

Don’t wake to hate and despise.

I’ll beg to dreams’ secret weaver,

To add some color to your eyes.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

A new member to this mess;

One with locks as gold as his soul.

With each night, a new success;

He helps relieve deaths’ toll.

He’s cast into a dreamers’ abyss;

Playing on the border of stars.

To his head, a goodnight kiss,

To remind him I’m never far.

Goodnight my golden sunbeam;

I’ll use your laughter as my pillow.

May your cheeks crease in your daydream,

And may your happy thoughts billow.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Goodnight to the ones I hold dear.

Goodnight to the ones who are gone.

Goodnight to the ones that are near.

Goodnight to all in a song.

Goodnight dearest mother.

Goodnight my loving dad.

Goodnight to all the others.

Goodnight to all I’ve had.

Goodnight to all, I love you.

Goodnight my sleeping sons.

Goodnight for my friends too.

Goodnight to each and every one.

Goodnight.
