Idylic BenedictionA Poem by Al R. ArceWhat a poem means to me.
Oh, my loyal friend,
What should I ask of you this time? I got needs, many needs I just can't tend ... You have been so many things for me! You have kept me afloat with your rhyme... When I've had my heart ripped out You were there, took my blood, you healed me. When my soul was in a drought Nature's bliss, you helped me, clearly see You have made me fly through your verse. You have taught me simple things I ignored, or forgot in ordeal I have cried over your sweet strings That reminded me of things I should feel. You've built me dreams with your similes. A smile, a laugh or a simple grin, You have stolen from me with your wit You toy in my mind, animating things I should know they could not come to be. You've marveled me with your conceit. Frivolous to many you may seem. You're my doctor, my counsel, my remedy. You have done so much for me Within the boundaries of your brevity I must thank you with my own poetry. © 2013 Al R.
