These Old Photographs

These Old Photographs

A Poem by OctoberDawn
"

Here's to hoping that they will still love you for the man they didn't think you'd be.

"
I can't help but turn and look at these old photographs; so many years passed.
I can't help but see, the look of hope that exists in my eyes.
I just wish this "unconditional" love will see me through; and that this too will last.
I hope that the feelings I feel will fall beneath "My own lies."

And would you still love me when
The man I am crumbles beneath,
  The picture painted long ago...

The moments when I ache to tell of what I feel, pass me by as a coward lies.
No whispers tell my story, when hearts beat after midnight.
How can anyone know the truth when I can scarce raise my head, let alone my eyes.
I hope something brings me solace as the burning candle loses light.

And how could you love me when
The man I am crumbles beneath,
The picture painted long ago...
