When I Was A Child

When I Was A Child

A Poem by Crow21

Once when I was a child
I smiled to the sunshine
Never from fear these feet would hide

Once when I was a child
Secrets from my lips were never told
Now the rusting memories tangled and wild
Withers in a mind that has become so old

Once when I was a child
Ignorance of this world was left unsaid
Camouflaged within a love so tender and mild
Now the cruelty of time has left to unthread
The words that had remained unread
